Departed home at 10:52am. David was concerned about the truck battery since it lost charge on the drive home from Camping World Thursday night. We headed down 494 with a watchful eye on the battery life. By the time we hit Bloomington the battery was about dead. It was raining hard and our windshield wipers and headlights would not work without battery. We pulled into a shopping center and called Good Sam Emergency Roadside Service. Decided to drive to the repair center after calling our RV repairman from WI - we could boost charge the battery through the coach batteries by pushing the boost button on the dashboard. David drove the rig with one hand and held down the boost button with the other for the 25 min drive in the rain from Bloomington to New Brighton. Problem solved by 3:45pm by the good folks at Universal Truck Service in New Brighton, only $182 out of pocket - we were missing the alternator fan belt. David said he smelled something burning when he left Camping World last night. We guess that's what it was.
Not enough groceries on board to make a decent dinner- were planning to do a bit of shopping on the way down this afternoon. Oh well, pulled into Clear Lake, IA at 6:30pm and picked up some "fast food".
Pushing on to Des Moines, we arrived at the KOA at 9:15 pm. First day was a long one, but at least we made our intended destination. Girls have been good buds today - no fighting, OK not much. Hmmm, must be the change of scenery. Hope it sticks.
